Aha! That was the old theory. The new scientific theory is that the mammoths and other species were wiped out by a huge meteor collision with the earth. That makes a great amount of sense, as discoveries, in Siberia, of frozen mammoths with flowers and grass in their mouths would suggest a sudden and catastrophic change of weather.

A lot of archaeologists say that early North American humans exterminated a
bunch of big game species like the mammoths and giant sloths too. The older
I get the more misanthropic I become. How many species are we going to
eliminate with global warming?
