Granted I do perfer a
stick, but with the automatics that both GM and Ford are using in their
2004 trucks, there is little advantage of a stick and a lot of
disadvantages if you have to drive through places Atlanta - even
occasionally.

I've only had the pleasure of Atlanta in rental cars, but have done
Seattle, Portland, greater San Francisco, greater Los Angeles, San Diego,
Salt Lake City, Dallas/Fort Worth, Oklahoma City, Denver, and a few others
towing with my stick shift on numerous occasions with no complaint. 
Granted, I might not want to commute to work there towing a trailer every
day, but still, didn't find the stick to be that limiting...  :-)  And
having done some of those on the ice, I darn sure wouldn't have traded for
an automatic on THOSE days!
