[RC] AERC members should come first...ALWAYS - Lisa Salas

Well Kat, I would have guessed that you wouldn't get it. There isn't a
whole bunch you seem to care about. Maybe that is just easier. I have
received quite a few private e-mails however from those who do.

I'm not sure why I hear that many AERC members are fed up with FEI
being involved in AERC and the board doesn't. That's what I don't get.
If you pretend not to hear the problems they don't exist, I guess.

I, among others think that it is a slap in the face when the powers
that be encourage a ride, even if it is just one time,(or will it be?)
that is not meant for it's own members. I know, these riders are AERC
members as well as FEI riders. Aren't the rides suppose to be open to
all members and non-members riding horses or mules at least 5 years
old or older?

You say to those who don't like it don't ride it. Like WHO COULD,
paying those prices? So the ride also is exclusive to those who have
that kind of money. Is that how it is suppose to be? Now can ALL ride
managers start charging several hundred dollars for rides? Only put on
100 mile rides? Only have rides in the desert? Only have dual
sanctioned FEI/AERC rides. And if you don't like it, don't go? How
well do you think that would work? Why wouldn't it? Because the
membership would have a fit, that's why. But it's ok this time? This
one time?? Just to keep the other rides "safe". I don't see another
100 mile ride that interferes with the GRD. As a matter of fact, I
don't even see another ride in the PS region for that whole month. I
am not picking on the RM for putting on the ride. This isn't about
"other rides to far, to expensive or to hard". This is a whole
different ride. It is not meant for ANY AERC member. Only a few. A
$50-100 ride fee gives the luxury of choice whether or not to go.
$500-600 removes that "option" for most riders I would guess.

I think it is wrong for AERC to cater to a ride for FEI, first. I am
NOT the only one. By the way, ENVY does NOT play a part in my opinion.

For those of you who don't care, think it's not your business, believe
you have a choice to go or not, or whatever other excuse you want to
use to stay out of it, don't be so shocked when you finally pull your
head out of the sand. Five years from now you will still have the same
board members, fewer members, higher fees, the same money problems and
FEI will have both feet in the door.

Good for you.

Lisa Salas, the Odd fArm
