[RC] Convention Rooms - heidi larson

And not to keep stirring the pot, but my husband just
checked the online rates again and the room prices
(non-AERC) have dropped again. Our airfare has dropped
twice since Christmas and car rental has also dropped
twice.  I look at it like "now I can afford to shop more at
the vendors, eat more at their rest. and maybe even gamble
a bit."    (I generally don't gamble.)

Wouldn't the hotel give an organization a special rate
(like not higher than the general public) for booking a
block of rooms and wouldn't we as the convention goers be
more inclined to go to that hotel and give the code to get
the discount so that the block would be filled?  If the
block is filled, more folks will eat at the hotel rest./put
a buck in their slot machines, buy a beer, tip a waitress,
tip a valet, and that is more money for the hotel without
making the patrons feel like they are being taken advantage
of.  It seems like backwards thinking to me.  

I don't recall the Nugget charging more than the general
public could get a room for last year and my husband is
pretty good about checking room/car/flight rates
periodically. (I could be wrong on that though.)
