Re: [RC] WEG 2010 / AERC / FEI - Truman Prevatt

In the evolution of things - people spinning off when an organization changes is the normal way new organizations form. In reality I think it is a good thing. It keeps the pot fresh and gives people options and cuts the feathers of people that get too big for their britches.

Will it happen in endurance - beats me (I don't have a crystal ball), but I think the AERC needs to focus on the 95% that are not AERC I members rather than the 5% that are. I would sure like to see the AERC take some steps that show they understand that concept that 95% of the members are not interested in international. I sure don't see that.

I'm not so sure I subscribe to that. I'm very proud of AERC and have no interest in the concept of starting a new endurance organization. I'm just not supportive of FEI involvement and any attempt of FEI to dictate to AERC on how our day-to-day rides are to be conducted. If there truly is a serious difference on how certain rides and riders are handled, depending on how much money is given FEI by their sponsors, I am against that. I cannot abide favoritism, especially based on monetary gifts.

Such things as forcing AERC members to join USEF or even pay as much as one penny to ride AERC rides would have a very positive benefit. It would stimulate a new organization to be formed which would be endurance without USEF. The AERC has no monopoly on endurance riding. There are several CTR organizations - there is not reason there can't be more than one endurance organization. Let the AERC merge with the USEF - maybe the best thing that could happen to endurance riding American style.

Truman.
