Re: [RC] Question on odd heart rate on two TWH - Nancy Sturm

The first thing to do is when the HRM numbers cause you to question what is going on - it may very well be issues with the HRM.

When I was still riding my Arab Tali, someone started up a chainsaw just below the trail. He did a pretty athletic spook and I looked down at my wrist where the HRM read 220. I thought, "Well, that really scared him." Then I looked over his shoulder and saw the electrode pad swinging in the breeze.

However, I was out on Hunter one day and his heart rate was higher than usual and a little spikey. I blamed in on the HRM and discovered when we returned to the barn that he'd run a sharp stake up beside his frog. So, you really need to consider more than one possibility.

Nancy
