OK, not wanting to jump into this debate, but your post caught my interest.  Please give me a little info about your composting methods, if you don't mind.  I understand the BASICS (like, composting kitchen/garden scraps) and such, but have no idea what might be involved in composting an animal the size of the average horse.  Kudos, but I'm still clueless.  Is this something an individual farm could do, or is it something best managed by an equestrian group?  Are there regulations regarding it?  Any info would be appreciated!

So, when throwing people and animals away is no longer convenient (i.e.slaughter auctions) then perhaps we might see a ramping up of societal responsibility.  If carcass removal is such a big deal (as so many say), then as a group (horse people) we need to come up with a solution rather than using slaughter as an acceptable option.  Here at our ranch, we compost.
