RE: [RC] [RC] Help with administering electrolytes - Ranelle Rubin

Naomi,

I have a horse like this when it comes to worming. I had to buy one of those "bit syringes" and it works well for worming. He does, however LOVE his e-lytes because he likes the taste! I use Dyna-Spark mixed with applesauce, water, (and Dyna-Pro for rides where I think he might need a bit of flora support). I have some in a water bottle on my saddle that is diluted and I can just unzip that side, ask him if he wants a drink, and he will turn his head, open his mouth, and let me squirt it in...for a more concentrated effect, I can syringe it as well. I have a smaller travel size lotion type bottle and a syringe on my saddle that is quickly filled.

If you know anyone who uses it, try it. I have had people squirt a little straight on their hand and let their horses try it straight and they lap it up! It is in a organic molasses base which is the phosphorus source.

I can order it for you if you don't already have a Dynamite rep.

I have a mare that has now decided to not accept a syringe in the mouth for
electrolytes. (Princess syndrome!) Her teeth have been recently done,
mouth examined, seems to be just a behavior issue. I have been riding
without electrolytes successfully (much to my pleasant surprise) but now
that we're doing 100's I would like to be able to give some occasionally.
Anyone have any alternate ways of giving elytes, or training ideas that I
might use? I do TEAM mouthwork on her and she loves it, but rears and gets
ugly when a syringe approaches.
Thanks!
Naomi
