[RC] Diagonals - k s swigart

Beverly Kane said:

My mnemonic for POSTing diagonals was uPOutSideTrot.
The diagonal is named for the shoulder going forward
(rider's UP position at the trot) on the outside of the arena
or the outside of the curve on a trail.

The one that I have always heard is "Rise and fall with the leg on the
wall." The "wall" of course, being the outside edge of the arena.

p.s. Angie, there are a million different ways that a rider can be
"crooked" and consequently, what you need to do to "fix" it varies quite
a bit; however, one "tip" that I can give anybody is: Focus on keeping
your hips straight and even, don't worry about the rest of your body.
And don't try to change how you are holding your hips by using any other
part of your body (like your shoulders), fix your hips by RELAXING the
rest of your body.
