Neoprene foam gloves have pretty much replaced shrunken wool among ice-fishermen, and I suspect Ocean fishermen also. They come from skin divers and their wet suits. I have used them in cold rain/snow rides in MN. After 8 or 10 hours your hands look like prunes, but are warm and you can still tend to your horse.
