Re: [RC] the distance riding game - Truman Prevatt

Having fun was wrapped up in 2) - it was a "derived requirement" you S/W folks like to talk about.

So to relist:

1. Horse Welfare
2. Getting away from the rat race and having fun
3 Helping RM's with their rides (that was also bundled into the original 2 but I guess I need to split it out)
4. Helping other people if they ask

And Matthew was correct - if it isn't fun why are we doing it?

Truman

Well, Truman, then have 4) having fun. We don't get paid for this, after all. I remember in some long-forgotten argument about something or another at an AERC Board meeting Matthew Mackay-Smith saying "We do this because it is fun, and if it ceases to be fun, we shall cease to do it."

when it is all said and done, i still say that the most important things in this distance riding game are: (1) Horse Welfare (2) Helping other people (3) Having Fun!
