I would list them in the following order of importance

1. Horse Welfare
2. Getting away from the rat race
3 Helping other people (if they ask).

take this for what it is, a game, a sport. something we do for fun. there is nothing wrong with taking your game very seriously and doing your best at it, whatever you determine "best" means.
distance riding is not the only game i play on horseback, but it is my favorite. i do cowboy mounted shooting too. i do some horse shows, and a little bit of dressage.
to me, just about any activity with horses is a lot more fun than other forms of recreation. cowboy ed
ps. some of y'all like to discuss, but some of y'all like to argue. there is a difference.
it hardly ever hurts to be nice, but being mean almost always hurts. now, y'all be nice, or i will resume my role as the bouncer. :-)
