ah, yes , my 4 kids all got chicken pox when my Aunt who had cancer, we were caring for broke out with shingles...

while shingles, aka herpes zoster, are not as contagious as herpes simplex, they are still contagious and "a person lacking varicella immunity can acquire chickenpox from a herpes zoster patient" taken from Mosby's Medical Dictionary.

Shingles are not contagious. They are a "left over" virus from chicken pox, of the herpes variety, but they are not contagious. Believe me, I have suffered with them for years and they are not "spread" by contact.
