My son has shingles. I've read everything I can find
about it, and it's not contagious to other people...

  Shingles are not contagious.  They are a "left
over" virus from chicken pox, of the herpes variety,
but they are not contagious.  Believe me, I  have
suffered with them for years and they are not
"spread" by contact.
