Re: [RC] "pound dog" mentality for horses? - Truman Prevatt

In the human world - none of it has to do with breeding or genes. In human running, the world record for the mile was about 4:40 100 years ago and today it is a minute faster. One hundred years ago the record for a TB in a mile was only a few seconds slower than today. Humans breed at random, horse are selectively bred for speed. Doesn't sound like the breeding program it's working very well, does it?

Cinderellas are made not born - they work to get where they are independent of the fact that they are not suppose to be able to do what they do.

Really?  I bet *most* of the stories of the athletic world are about hard work, sacrifice and intense preparation, and lots of them are sad stories of failure to achieve goals with nary a fairy godmother in sight to lighten the load.
