Re: [RC] Drinking out of a Water tank - heidi

I'd like to turn this a bit more useful, and get to the real debate.

Do we, as a collective group, want to allow horses to drink as they
please from the water tanks? or Do we wish to be proactive in
preventing illness from sharing water with up to 200 other horses?

I think any input/discussion of this will be useful to the ride
managers.

OK, my nickel's worth. I work hard at encouraging my horses to drink--any
time, any place. To tell them "no" after working to teach them otherwise
is counterproductive. I can't imagine disillusioning my horse after
telling him time and time again what a good boy he is for drinking.

We KNOW that dehydration is our enemy, every ride. The risk of disease
only hits once in awhile. I vote for drinking from whatever source makes
them inclined to do so.

everything was perfect today, what would you do tomorrow? Slamming each
other doesn't get anything done.
