[RC] sugar in beet pulp and laminitis issues - Patti Kuvik

Susan...
Thanks for the heads up. Almost sounds like it had to have molasses added -
Dairy One sugar tests on 40 beet pulp samples (5/1/2000 through 4/30/2003)
had a sugar range of 7.5 to 13.1 with an average of 10.3%. (
http://www.dairyone.com/Forage/FeedComp/ - although this part of their web
site seems to be broke today)

I was planning on sending my beet pulp pellets (Manna-Pro) for analysis for
sugar/starch/iron anyway ( I generally use Dairy One
http://www.dairyone.com/Forage/services/Forage/forage_Price_List.htm)
so will get it off tomorrow and forward the results to you when I get them.
As long as I'm getting them done, anything else you'd like to see tested on
them - could do a full wet chem #10 if you'd like?

In the meantime, I'm rounding up some more samples of beet pulp from =
sources around the country for analysis and will see how they come back. =
Stay tuned. :-))

I still prefer what it is that BH100, Tevis, The Duck's Soup of Endurance,
etc. has to offer...but, to see a horse canter over sand for those
distances...Good Lord, it humbles me.
