And the sooner we start working from that premise the more likely we are to make progress in mitigating the risk on our horses. Endurance rides are a major stress factor on the horse. We ask them do this for us. They do not voluntarily do it on their own no matter what me might like to think. They would just as soon be in the field muching on grass.

We ask the to do it, and they do. Because of that we have the responsibility for their welfare not only on the trail but in trying to insure the sport is as safe as possible for our equine friends. Our responsibility to the welfare of our horse does not end when we get off the trail.
