[RC] Truck for Trailer - IRMurphy

I just recently purchased a 2003 F-450 truck and can safely and comfortably say
it works for every day driving. (I traded in my 2001 1-ton Dodge dually which
had gotten me stuck too many times to mention but was great if I didn't want to
tow anything.) I did have to give up some of the fancy features I had in the
loaded Dodge but the fact that I can now pull up the hills more than makes up
for it.

One thing to note on the F-450, the 4x4 option actually reduces the towing
capacity. My 2x4 F-450 with the 4.3 rear end 7.3 L V8 engine is rated for
17,500 lbs, 525 ft/lbs of torque while the 4x4 option is rated for 17,000 lbs.

I've had no need for the 4x4 option in any rides I've attended in the Southwest
and Pacific South regions.

Irene
