RE: [RC] High headedness and arabs and martingales - Steph Teeter

I have found a very nice bitting rig - it is designed to encourage impulsion
from the haunches - if the horse raises it's head above the level you set
the rigging at, then the rope around the rear tightens, encouraging forward
motion. It is my favorite setup for lunging. The horses quickly get used to
it and it seems to do the job - rounded back, impulsion. And it's very
adjustable - you can start small and easy and work up. When I first work the
horses in this rig, and then ride them I can feel the difference right away.
It's not a substitue for training (dressage), but for those of us w/o a
trainer's hands and sensitivity - and skill - it is a good second best.
