[RC] FEI Equine Anti-Doping and Controlled Medication Regulations - Diane Trefethen

Dear Maryben & Dianna,

On November 19, 2009, the FEI General Assembly adopted the so-called
"Progressive List" which allows the administration to a horse of phenylbutazone
(bute), flunixin (banamine) or salicylic acid (aspirin) within 24 hours of
competing in an FEI event.

Please contact our President and ask for a special BOD meeting to issue a Press
Release condemning the allowing of these drugs in competition. We need to do
this ASAP so as to make clear our strong opposition to allowing a horse to
compete under the influence, however mild, of drugs such as bute or banamine and
to forcefully underscore AERC's zero tolerance approach to drugs that mask
either pain or other prohibited substances.
