[RC] Racing to finish the National Championship 50 - shermanTitle: MessageApril wasn't the
only one racing at the NC. She did say she'd been riding all year to prepare
for the ride and she does take responsibility for her horse needing to
be treated. She's completed some tough rides over the years, including
Cooley Ranch, Whiskeytown Chaser, Swanton Pacific 75 and a couple 100s, so
is no rookie.
It doesn't seem that
much was written about her not wearing a helmet, just that it was not what many
are accustomed to seeing when a rider is truly racing. Maybe at the ride it was
suggested to her that it would be safer to wear one, and if she takes that
suggestion, good for her. Many young people don't think long-term consequences
of the risks they take and have no real sense of
mortality.
It seems like a lot
of assumptions are being made here...
