Re: [RC] Convention Rooms - CTH

Boy I sure did not plan on opening padoras box, I just posted to try and help some people out.
Bruce usually you are bang on but let me tell you straight alot of people do this sport on a very shoestring budget giving up other things so they can. They only dream of ever going to Tevis because of the cost. You as a professional enjoy a higher income. To a single mom $80 is a ton of money. To alot of people $80 is a ton of money.
The higher room rate just happened to bite AERC in the butt.
I am looking at the green sheet mailed out and it implies we are getting a rate.
As to being where the action is I can in no uncertainty tell you a number of the vendors are NOT happy with the trade show being a block away. This is not in the action. There has been much private discussion between vendors on this.
At no time where we told that the speakers were not in the hall with us. The front desk said it is about a 5 min walk which does not make it handy to drop in between speakers.
It also means that we can not drop in and catch some of the speakers.
Personally when AERC decided to not have a Convention committee they dropped the ball.
I am not slamming AERC I think the office staff have done a great job. They just require help and input which they did not ask for.
From the vendors point of view unless you are in the business you have no
idea what it takes to put a booth into a trade fair.

Those that want to stay at the hotel are paying for the
convenience of being where all the action is. Those that don't have the inconvenience of going to the hotel to the convention, trade show, etc.
