Not sure exactly how I feel about this...  Seems to me that a rider ought to 
commit.  You don't get on a bull and get credit for a ride of less than 8 
seconds...  How will folks know if a given horse/rider team had planned to 
attempt a 100, but only completed 50?  Might be important when considering 
the purchase of a "used horse".  Was no attempt ever made to "race" the 
horse 100 miles, or did the horse repeatedly fail to cover that distance?
