If the horse is slipping on the floor and you don't want to put any
shavings in, just shovel a bit of dirt in there..then when he is loaded scrape
it out or leave it. Doesn''t take much to offer some traction. If his feet are
that bad as far as long toes and low heels, I would do whatever it takes to fix
that problem...shoeing hasn't worked so either find a different shoer
or try barefoot with a knowledgeable barefoot trimmer until the problem is
corrected.
