Well, the Commonwealth stole it from the Native Americans, who do not look at land/nature as something that is owned. So I guess it is just a matter of which bully wins. Right now, the oil companies and cattle ranchers are making good use/profit off the American Public's excess land, and the American Public is getting very little of that profit. Why not just parcel it ALL out, and sell it to the highest bidder, then we will have no more bothersome land to have to argue over the management of.
