Well said, Sandy, well said. I started riding, training and showing horses in various disciplines in 1963. I finally got to ride my first LD in 2004 at age 62. I have several friends, one a retired horse trainer/dressage judge, who were always interested in distance riding and even used lots of trail miles to keep show horses fresh, but never competed until very late in their riding careers.

And I am certainly not suggesting that endurance is easier than any other discipline or that it is a sport for senior citizens. We all know that's not true. It does seem to fit into some of our schedules better when we have more freedom to travel and be away from home more often than some folks can do when they're immersed in careers and child-rearing.
