RE: [RC] US Rider experiences - denied - TypeF \(Jackie Floyd\)

AAA is the same way. I got rid of one of our AAA cards since I have USRider
so that left only my husband with an AAA card. When I went in to get a
passport photo, even though I've been using them as my insurance company
since 1974, because my husband was not with me with HIS card and was not
writing the check, I had to pay more for my passport photo. And I had my
policy paper work with me, too. I'm sure if a passport photo has that rule,
then the rest of their service does, too.

I, myself, have never had anything but good experiences with USRider, having
called and used them three times. However, it was only for flats and
directions to the nearest tire store, which happened to be closer than the
45 minutes it would have taken their driver to get there, etc. Nothing
major.

It seems like 'most' people have good luck with US
Rider; I wish I was one. I called them once when my
truck broke down (not hauling horses, luckily). I was
put on hold for a long period of time and the person
whose phone I was using needed it back, so I hung up
and called the closest tow company on my own. I called
US Rider an hour later, told them my situation, and
was told to just mail in my tow bill and they'd
reimburse me. Imagine my suprise when a couple weeks
later I got a letter denying my claim. Why? Because my
husband (who is not a USRider member) paid the bill
when he picked up the truck. When I called US Rider
about it they said that the tow bill needed to be
signed by ME since I was the member. Huh? It didn't
matter that I was driving; apparently I still broke
some rule and it got them out of paying. They blamed
their underwriters for the refusal. At any rate, now
that I read here that some people have had tows paid
when the driver wasn't even a US Rider member, it
really ticks me off that my premium paid for that and
yet I couldn't get reimbursed when I was legitimate.
