Wendy and I have bred two great horses in the last couple of years. The breedings were designed to produce horses that we will personally use until the end of their lives (God willing and the creek don't rise.) They were both the results of crossing horses with quite different genetic backgrounds. The reason is that we fell that these crosses produce a great using horse. In the case of Miikka, I would never breed that cross on - my personal opinion is that half Arabian half Saddlebred horses are great using horses, but not for breeding. In our case Murphy was evidentally busy elsewhere as both were born as Gelding prospects, exactly what we prefered.
