Re: [RC] scientific data on horse (or any) chiropractic? - Beth Walker

A friend of mine pointed out that the person doing the study was a vet who practiced chiropractic. I'm not saying that invalidates the results, but it does bring up the issue of unintentional bias, especially as the study reports that chiropractic was the most beneficial.

Those of us that have been lucky enough to have a GOOD chiro work on a horse will find it interesting.

Subject: [RC] scientific data on horse (or any) chiropractic?

So my Barn Friends told me that the chiropractor was coming out Monday and I ought to call him and get my pony on the list. Pony has a few signs of back soreness, and I am getting a saddle fitter out in about a week and a half mainly to check my Specialized Saddle fitting job. Even after watching the DVD a lot, I still don't feel like I know what I'm doing.

My husband says there is no scientific evidence whatsoever that chiropractic stuff is anything other than placebo effect. I am willing to entertain this, but can anyone point me to any good, sound, science on the matter? I'm not talking about your personal experience with it, or some random person's website (even if the person has letters after his/her name.) I am looking for primary study papers, preferably blinded ones. And while it's not exactly relevant, similar studies on accupuncture would be appreciated, too. I'll take studies supporting either conclusion (that it works, or it doesn't.)

Thanks,
Betsy
