Hello D'Arcy,
Well these horses can sure get some nasty stuff. None of our horses 
got the "elephant legs" thing and our vet lanced a few of the bigger 
swellings including one under the chest and only got pus, never much 
blood, so I don't think we had the purpura hemorrhagica. We 
definitely suspected that the flies were the carriers.
