Re: [RC] [RC] Coggins - customary? - Kathy Klenk

I'm just going through this right now. The seller is getting the coggins. I could NOT believe it when she told me it would only be $17. That was a vet in Tennessee. I'm sure I pay more. What do other people pay for their coggins ?

I could be wrong, but, I believe it is illegal to sell a horse without a coggins. (At least it was in MI). Therefore it is the sellers responsibility. But then again, if you REALLY want a horse that doesn't already have one, it would probably be quicker to just have one done at your expense than to argue it out with the seller. fwiw

I recently had a woman come from out of state to look at a horse I

someone else wants the horse, but my wife is talking about
breeding her. Bottom line, I paid for a coggins.

Lisa-

As the semi-recent buyer of an out-of-state horse, I had to
pay for the Coggins. However, I also had a vet check done,
and waited for the results of that before deciding to buy and
shelling out the cash for the Coggins.
