Re: [RC] [RC] GSFTR/first rides - Nancy Sturm

I have to agree with Barbara. After having ridden dressage and jumpers for
about 40 years, I decided if I were ever going to ever try distance riding,
I'd better get started.

I bought an old four horse stock trailer and a very nice Arab gelding. For
his first LD, I loaded him up and, all by myself, hauled him from Southern
Oregon to the Redwoods ride in Northern California.

I couldn't have chosen a better first ride. The folks there were beyond
kind. I did not have a clue. I remember coming across the finish at just
under five hours and asking, "Now what do I do." Fortunately, Tali pulses
down really quickly and camps well, so I pretty much got to enjoy the ride.

My grandson owns him now and they make a great team. I ride a Tennessee
Walker, easier on my over-used and aging body.

Nancy
