[RC] Lifetime memberships - Michael Maul

In response to:"Why not have an option to pay a lifetime membership fee? Several breed organizations offer this to members."

The BoD has considered this a number of times but has not been able to determine what the cost should be that works well for both member and AERC.

A lifetime AHA membership is $1000 based on a yearly dues of $25 or 40 x a yearly membership. You don't get access to the AHA database for this but it gives you a discount. It looks like there's certainly inflation involved in this calculation because in 40 years - the dues would change a lot. I think AERC dues started out in the $5 range 35 years ago.

If AERC used the same criteria as AHA at 40 x $65 - ours would be $2,600.

Does anyone know of other lifetime memberships and the number of years the lifetime membership is equivalent to?

Mike
