Re: [RC] Naming Our Farms - Amber Roberts

How many of us "name" our farms/ranches/hobby farms etc?
Is there a particular number of acres that's prevalent when naming a farm?  (under x acres you don't, but over x acres you do)
Do you just "name" your farm for fun or what have you done to "register" your farm name?
If you have a farm name, what is it?

Our ranch is named The Manuel LaBoure Ranch and it is registered.  Where I live, it costs $11 for 10 years to register.  We were given a farm number also.  The name came about because we have an imaginary hired hand named Manual Labor and Manual is always gone, working on someone else's ranch/farm when we need him.  Thus, we always end up doing all the work ourselves.  If we feel "snooty" we used to call him Manuel LaBoure.  So when we decided to name our place, it just had to be the Manuel LaBoure.  It's gotten quite a few second looks at people drive by.  One person said they had been driving by our sign for 6 weeks when they finally slapped themselves in the head and "got it."
