Re: [RC] Frank and the Missing Trailer - Sharon Levasseur

Yes, I am in that position. As of Summer 2006 I had done only two endurance
rides but had I moved to a new area and loved the trails enough to become a NEW
RIDE MANAGER and create A NEW RIDE that will this year grow to two days with a
30/60 each day. And yes, I created it and I manage it ALL ALONE, even though
there are ~50 private landowners involved. So yes, it can and has been done,
by many more people than just me.

No, my landowners get no monetary reimbursement for the ride. Heck, I lost
$1300 out of my own pocket putting it on last year.

Anyone want to be my day manager on Day Two this fall? You get free entry to
either ride on Day One and my everlasting thanks. I want to ride the damn
thing, it's the only endurance ride within a 4-hour drive!!!

Soooo, like the clean air campaign, why not put a 'find a ride' type link on
the website where people can try car pooling to rides? Or had someone
already suggested that ....
I know I've read its kind of a pain to have to go out of your way to then
pick up someone whose horse won't load or the rider has too much stuff or
whatever. It is quite a hassle I'm sure but as people get used to it maybe
it could work out? Or more rides. That way there would be bound to have a
ride closer to home. I know of a few places here in Georgia that might be
great places to hold rides but I don't have a clue on how I would get the
ball rolling to put on a ride. Would the people that own the park/property
get anything out of an endurance ride monetarilly?

Is anyone else in that position? You do some conditioning rides and thing
wow, why don't they have endurance rides here??? Maybe not enough to hold a
100 miler but still....

I can't stand the thought of a fellow Cornhusker not being able to
make it to an endurance ride! I do know that U-Haul rents horse
trailers. This might provide a temporary cure until we can figure out a
way to forge a fake winning lottery ticket, or bump off a rich uncle.
Forget about robbing the convenience store. That guy is still pissed
about me stealing a tank of gas. Dr Q
