That is exactly why my grandmother would plant about 2 1/2 acres of corn - in patches about a week apart. That way we could have fresh corn for a long time and she would not have to can or freeze huge amounts at one time.


When it got too old to eat as "sweet corn" we would let it mature and pick it for the cattle in the fall.
