Thanks Sharon..great article..

Cheri Brisco, the breeder of my horse said, "Don't leave your horse's legs on the training trail"...check out her record.

Ann Hall, my long time mentor trains in sand on the river all winter, legging the horses up, then off to a few rides in the spring, then the remainder of the summer until Tevis is spent on the the actual Tevis trail that we have the luxury of living next to. Check out her record..

I am listening..3 days a week of training..one long day, two days off, a short ride, a day off, a bit of a longer ride, a day off, a long ride, and we start over!

..riding Deadwood to Foresthill on Sunday....:)

I read this article in the NY Times about changes in marathon training
programs and thought distance riders might find it interesting.
Obviously one cannot compare human and equine training programs directly,
but I believe there are some parallels.
