RE: [RC] Pregnant Mare - Rae

Angie - it really depends on the mare.  Scarlet, I will ride up til she
foals, although she usually tells me at 10 months that I had better not put
that saddle on her anymore.  She's happy with me bareback and will charge
out the gate for the trails.  I love finding a play-day show with a
ride-a-buck class when's she's large.  I'm telling you, no matter what gait
we go or how I bounce, that dollar goes nowhere!   On the flip side, my
other mare, Rhea, we quit riding her as soon as she's bred.  She doesn't
have the joy of being ridden that Scarlet has and so to keep her happy and
stress free, we back off.

I am interested in hearing your opinions on how long I can ride my pregnant 
mare? She is due to foal the end of June.  She likes to get out and go down 
the road still but is really getting huge!!!  She seems like she's enjoying 
it, I'm not riding her hard, 5-10 miles mostly walking with some trotting. 
Am I ok to continue this??
