RE: [RC] Mare's gestation period - Rae

Scarlet was only covered once, too.  We had her checked at 20 days and was told that she wasn’t prego and that it would be extremely difficult to get her pregnant due to the sheen number of cysts in her uterus.  We were referred to a repro specialist, who pretty much said the same thing.  About 2 months ago, we started thinking she was REALLY looking fat. <g>  This has been the most active of all her in-utero foals.  I can see it kicking around from across the stall.

Marla went 369 days this spring.  She was impregnated by one dose of AI so we know the conception day right on.

Our neighbor, who raises Paints as Spotted Fawn Paints, says that she has heard from all over the world that foals are late this year, and a preponderance of colts.

When I was first into horses a vet at a clinic was asked how you tell when a mare will foal.  He said that you have your opinion, he has his, the mare thinks she knows, but in reality "God only knows".
