[RC] aussie saddles - Dawn Simas

I've ridden in them exclusively for 25 years.  My first was a traditional aussie stock saddle from the 80's, Syd Hill.  I still have it, they will outlive you if taken care of.  But, they are typically narrow as TB bred horses are the traditional stock horses of Australia.  Colin at the Aussie Stock Saddle Co makes many saddles that have "adjustable" trees (wood and steel and he can custom build to fit and change it later if necessary), so that is no longer an issue. Make sure your saddle fits your horse.

The poleys never get in my way if the saddle fits you right.  Aus is huge cattle country, these saddles were developed over time for the utmost in *comfort* and *security* for their cowboys there, and also for long distance riding.  They couldn't afford to sore a horse when 100's miles from nowhere.

I have bought two Southern Crosses from Colin.  My Mom liked mine so well, she bought one too a few years back.  She no longer is riding and sold her horse, so Colin has it on consignment and is selling it used (and can fit the tree to your horse), so you may want to ask him about it.  Tell him Dawn Simas from CA mentioned it...
