RE: Spam:*********, [RC] Biodiesel & Gas - Karen Standefer

I’ve been running biodiesel in my truck for 5 years and in my car for 3.  I have no loss of power and fuel economy is the same.

You don’t have to convert anything to use biodiesel (unless you use a high percentage and then you need to make sure you don’t have rubber/plastic gaskets).  But, you may have to blend it with higher amounts of diesel in the winters depending on where you live.  It also doesn’t matter if you switch between diesel and biodiesel when you go on trips.  They’re mixable in any percentage you need.  Don’t let it stop you from using it just because you can’t get it on trips.  I fill up 100 gallons before I leave and if I have to put pure diesel in on the road, who cares.  Still, you’re helping the carbon dioxide problem by using what you can when you can.   And also cutting down on our dependence on oil.

Subject: Spam:*********, [RC] Biodiesel & Gas

Friend of mine has a 97 Ford F250 diesel she converted to 100% vegetable oil last year. Runs like a top, was easy to convert and she gets the fuel from local restaurants. Oh, and smells better than the pure diesel she was using.

There are biodiesel stations in our area with various percentage blends. I think some of our city fleets are running on it. I haven't converted because I only use the big truck for hauling and not sure I could find reliable and plentiful sources on the road. There seems to be more suppliers everytime I look however.  http://www.biodiesel.org/buyingbiodiesel/retailfuelingsites/

The rising cost of fuel will affect how many and which rides I attend this year. Not that the rising costs are a bad thing. Should help the jumpstart to alternative fuels and sources.
