Re: [RC] Ride Photographers - Michelle Aquilino

Jonni,

I totally underestand all of what you are saying.  I guess I would assume that the people volunteering to do this would hopefully be those that are pretty talented in photography, but just not necessarily a "professional".  I consider myself pretty good at photography, and usually am disappointed in the pictures other people take of me when I do one of those "hey, can you take a picture of us?" things with random people.  Little things like you mentioned that people who know photography think about, but I can sometimes forget there are people who don't realize these things.  I guess what I'm saying is that it'd be nice to have both options.  I like the "close-up" fancy pictures, but I also really enjoy the pictures that show off the ride, with me happening to be in it to personalize it (as long as the quality is high enough so I'm not just a little fuzzy blob, ha ha).  I like pictures from around ridecamp, and at the vet check, etc.

I mean no disrespect at all for the ride photographers, I know it's expensive, and getting TO the rides only increases those expenses exponentially, ha ha.  It'd just be nice to have the option.  If THE ride photographer gets a really nice picture of me, I can buy it, but otherwise I could get some cheaper pictures that may be lower quality, but they're pictures to help me remember the ride.  Anyway, it was just me thinking out loud to see what people's thoughts were.  I don't intend to "replace" the ride photographer with this idea, just thinking.

Thanks for everyone's thoughts!
-Michelle
