Re: [RC] Posting back to basics (I humbly disagree) - rides2far@xxxxxxxx

but your butt should be relaxed. If you tighten your
butt muscles then you end up tightening the upper inside of your
tightswhich creates tension.

OK, I understood you should tighten those interior muscles that slide
the muscle up and over your seat bones...this gets better all the
time, I really don't want to figure out how to describe tightening
them...maybe if you saw a cop in your rear view mirror while going
80...nah, maybe when you're trying to hold it till you get to a
bathroom. :-P

I feel like my new improved way of posting is described perfectly by
the earlier "basics" description. However, it's going to take some
time for me to build up the right muscles. This weekend the posting
was effortless, but by 40 miles I had some really sore spots that I
don't usually have simply because I was doing things differently than
I'm conditioned to do. The last 10 miles I was telling myself "Post
UP not forward" to try to use the old muscles that I've conditioned a
little more. I'm going to have to work myself hard for the next month
to condition myself the right way.

A lovely horse is always an experience.... It is an emotional
experience ofthe kind that is spoiled by words. ~Beryl Markham

P.S. I've read Beryl Markham's book & biography and the main thing I
remember from it is that people who knew her said she was fearless
because she had absolutely NO imagination. So now I consider being a
chicken a sign of a healthy imagination.
