[RC] Ridecamp post - rides2far@xxxxxxxx

You ask if perhaps a lesser distance (than 100 miles) might
significantly reduce pulls, deaths, etc.

The best way to make sure we never fail at anything is to never try
anything. What's wrong with a pull so long as there's no permanent
damage? My athletes at school get pulls, strains, bruises
constantly...because they are ACTIVE, thus they have the muscle
injuries...unlike the kids who are "safe" and never have failure, who
are overweight, depressed & self destructive, etc. Heck, I'll bet if
you looked it up on the internet you'd find kids who were killed
playing little league last year. Doesn't mean it is inhumane. It just
means we're all mortal.

In 35 years of riding horses I have seen 2 deaths. One was a 50
miler, the other was a pleasure horse that put its foot through the
reins, paniced and flipped smashing its head on the ground. No 100's.
