  ". . . So -- maybe back to endurance? I'd love
to hear
from those who are starting out new horses. We all
need encouragement to "hold our horses" and develop
them slowly, even as our own "riding clocks" are
ticking and those available riding years seem to be
waning. I was especially impressed by the article
about Tulip in the March 'Endurance News' -- what a
role model that horse is for our newbie horses! I
would especially like to know the game plans devised
for the newbie horses out there in Ridecamp Land --
what kinds of rides, strategies, etc. are in place.
It is a joy to bring a new horse into this sport--
to see what it's made of and how we can better
manage our decisions for its long-term soundness.

I am a newbie who is starting a 5 year old AngloArab/
hanoverian cross. She will be my first under the age
of 11 horse--my first fresh clean never been abused or
used up or sufferring from some ailment horse. I am so
excited AND so afraid of making a mistake that could
hurt her. I rely on the information I find here and
new friends I've made volunteering the past two years.
I conditioned a 19 year old in 05 but I understand the
old timers can be a lot more forgiving of mistakes.
What about adding work on pavement to condition for
hard ground rides? Is yes when and how? Hey! I don't
have the March issue Yet : ^ (
