[RC] Kids in endurance - Catfish Daniels

About two weeks ago I ran into a kid unlike any other kid I had ever met. It was in the waiting room at the small animal vet when this kid struck up a conversation. Within minutes I was in heavy discussions regarding politics, human rights issues, and world events. The kid had just turned 11 years old - and she did not let up. I honestly have to say that I soon forgot that I was talking to a kid. The points she brought up, the rebuttles she made, the points of views she shared - it was amazing. When I turned to her parents I commented on how impressed I was with their daughters communication skills at such an early age. They then informed me that she was a debates champion and travelled all across the country to compete in these debate championships. Apparently there was a whole world of these smart kids out there somewhere being able to demonstrate equal communication skills. WOW!!!

There are some kids that can share the same stage with us adults in various tasks. And if we let them, we might just learn something from them. Unfortunately I didn't meet the little man at 20MT even though I was there. But he surely shared the stage with us on that day - my hat's off to him.

"Is it going to take a tragic accident, with a small child severely injured or worse, before the AERC faces up to its responsibilites?"

A blanket statement.

Is Joe's true interest in protecting children or putting himself in a win/win situation? I think it is the latter. From here on in, if by chance a child is injured on an endurance ride, Joe can always say "I told you so." Joe wins. Joe likes that.

Our lives are obstructed by threats of litigation, rules, regulations, limited choice, more rules. Parents want and deserve the right to have a choice.
