Re: [RC] Electrolyte Formulas - rdcarrieYou may have to experiment to see what e-lyte protocol works best for your horse over a number of rides. For example, we may give them a dose Thurs. night at home, small dose when we get to camp, dose before bed, dose in the morning before the start, and a dose at each hold. If it's a very long loop and a hot and humid ride, we will dose on the trail. We modify the above (more or fewer doses, size of doses, etc.) if it's unusually hot or cold vs. a moderate day, how well each horse is drinking in camp and on trail, etc. Many have found that horses do better with frequent small doses rather than fewer big doses. We tend to go that route. We've had very good results wiht EnduraMax. I've used LyteNow a few times, but not often enough to form an option. I usually just take a container of Enduramax mixed with applesauce with me on the trail.

I meant LyteNow, not PerformN' Win. Never had metabolic problems or thumps, and always had good recoveries, but: Limited Success = sometimes he drank really well, sometimes not well. No Success = never drank well, but did drink SOME. I'm asking this today because I'm placing an order with sstack.com and I'm trying to get to $50. I need e-lytes but they only have three kinds. One of them is this: http://www.finishlinehorse.com/product/apple-a-day.asp Is this any good??
