 I find the various reactions to the Shay Day story very interesting. 
Can anyone offer a specific example they have personal knowledge of, 
chapter and verse, of  substantial harm that has come to a disabled 
person directly as a result of too large a dose of encouragement? It 
seems that the world at large, disabled or not, is starving for genuine 
words of encouragement. Thoreau said it......"the mass of men lead lives 
of quiet desperation....."    But maybe he and I are wrong. Anyone?
