Re: [RC] [RC] re: endurance riders aloof? I don't think so - Barbara McCrary

Another thought that came to me on this subject...
Some endurance riders concentrate very hard on "reading" their horse's performance on the trail...whether the horse is feeling well, etc. (not whether they are going fast enough to beat someone else.)  It's possible this concentration could be interpreted to be aloof, where nothing could be farther from the truth.  None of us should read something into a situation that may not be as it seems.

I?m sure I may give that impression too ? that I?m aloof or rude, but hey, I?m deaf and sometimes hearing aid batteries go out in the middle of the trail, so no, I may not hear someone shouting behind me that they want to pass.  Plus, you?d be surprised at how loud wind is in a microphone.  Sometimes I can?t even hear the person right next to me over it.
